The Greater Bridgeport Bar Association, established in 1880, has evolved from a few dedicated lawyers seeking the fellowship of their legal peers to an organization whose membership currently exceeds 700 attorneys and represents a variety of professional areas, including government lawyers, judges, law school faculty, private practitioners and corporate counsel, paralegals and legal administrators.

Although its size has grown over the years, the nature of the organization remains essentially the same—it is an organization that provides its members with the opportunity to learn and grow in a congenial and friendly atmosphere.

Scholarship Fund

The Greater Bridgeport Bar Association Scholarship Fund was established in 1995, and is administered by the Fairfield County Community Foundation (formerly Greater Bridgeport Area Foundation). The Fund consists of contributions made by our members and the earnings thereon. Yearly, a scholarship is awarded that consists of a portion of the principal’s earnings. Students eligible for the scholarship must reside in the greater Bridgeport area. They must have graduated from a college or university, and are entering the first year of an accredited law school program. Applicants must have demonstrated academic achievement and interest in community and/or extra-curricular affairs.
